Absinthe - An interesting History
Once prohibited by the US Government, Absinthe has re-emerged on the scene. Back in the early 1900's many countries banned the drink because it was believed to cause hallucinations. Thujone is a compound found in wormwood, an herb that is used in absinthe production. It is thujone which will cause hallucinations, however, in small doses it has been found to be no more mind altering than alcohol.
Absinthe is often referred to as the "Green Fairy" due to its green color and reputation. The picture below is a painting depicting famous poet Oscar Wilde, an avid absinthe drinker.
LUCID ABSINTHE
Lucid Absinthe represents a breakthrough product for the U.S. market, as it is the first true, Grande Wormwood-based Absinthe of its type available since before prohibition. The recipe for Mansinthe was developed between 2005 and 2007 in direct co-operation with Marilyn Manson. The production of Mansinthe combines grande wormwood, fennel, anise and various herbs. A 2008 gold medal winner in the San Francisco Word Spirits Competition.

LE TOURMENT VERT ABSINTHE
Le Tourment Vert is an exceptional Absinthe made in the traditional French method using wormwood in addition to a host of other herbs. This absinthe has sweet smooth taste of fennel and anise. It is 100 proof, and although strong it's more approachable than higher-alcohol Absinthe. It's great for shots, sipping or for making traditional absinthe cocktails.
